The AQUASMART project is about enhancing innovation capacity within the aquaculture sector, by helping companies to transform captured data into knowledge, and sharing this knowledge to improve efficiency, increase profitability and carry out business in a sustainable, environmentally friendly way.
The project is based in the real world, addressing actual problems that aquaculture producer’s face, carrying out work in the areas of data analysis, data exchange between aquaculture companies and its related stakeholders and global knowledge access.
The Objectives of AQUASMART are ambitious, challenging and will seek to bring cutting edge technology closer to the market for use by fish farmers and their supply chain across Europe.

In doing so, we will be able to quickly evaluate and identify the best management practices and rapid solutions for problems or issues that arise.
By offering aquaculture production companies these tools to access and share the global open data and putting them in a position to perform strong data analytics in a multilingual, multi-sector and cross-border setting we are strengthening the competitiveness and growth potential of these companies.
On the social level, AQUASMART contributes to the development of highly skilled workforce through on-line training programs. The improvement of the efficiency and profitability of the businesses, together with the reduction of the environmental impact will contribute to the increase of the production and the generation of new jobs in the sector.
The project consortium includes prominent industrial organization’s and research institutes from six countries: Ireland, Israel, Slovenia, Spain, Portugal, and Greece.
