Walton Institute provides the opportunity to pursue research in any global ICT area of interest with our postdoctoral positions. We are always interested in hearing from outstanding candidates for postdoctoral research positions. Our ethos allows individuals to pursue research in any area that is within their interest and mutually allows us to stay competitive with the evolving development of global ICT competition.
Candidates should have a PhD (or be near completion of their PhD studies) in one of the following fields: communications networks, multi-media communications, signal processing, computer science or mathematics. They should have a strong publication record with the ability to work across traditional disciplines, to work in collaboration with industry partners and to initiate new research collaborations. Walton also hosts Postdoctoral Research Fellows who have been successful in competitive funding schemes (such as SFI /IRC). We offer a flexible and open environment for postdoctoral researchers.
Postdoc researchers are encouraged to be proactive in developing new areas of research activity. This flexibility provides a number of benefits, many of which are typically not available in traditional University departments, these benefits include:
Walton’s core strength is our people. Our Graduate Programme is a key element in building our high calibre talent base in the South East. We want graduates of the highest potential that have the skills and vision to succeed and excel in a fast-paced environment. You will work with some of the best, with supplementary learning and development to back up what you experience on the job; you will have everything you need to develop your career. As a minimum requirement, applicants should hold a degree in computing, maths, engineering or equivalent (e.g. BSc/BEng).
Our Graduate Programme also provides the opportunity to participate in MSc in Computing (Communications Software) on a part-time basis with an opportunity to pursue a PhD if desired.
Internships are short periods of professional experience. During an internship you will be doing similar work to a normal employee of the organisation. They give you a taste of what graduate work is like and can help you make industry contacts. Internships last between 3 – 6 months and are generally paid.

Candidates that are resident outside of Ireland may require a Hosting Agreement to work in Ireland.
The Hosting Agreement will be organised by SETU and can take up to two weeks. This applies to Non-EEA nationals whether or not they are currently resident in an EU member state.
