Due to his previous work in international collaboration with Brazil, TSSG group’s Jim Clarke was an invited speaker in a webinar called Internationalisation of Research and Innovation: where European and global experiences meet on Tuesday, 23rd June 2020 at 2:00 PM (CEST).
The webinar was organised by the European Association of Institutions in Higher Education (EURASHE) to stress the importance in the run up to Horizon Europe of the need for research and innovation to take a more international approach to deal with the cyclic occurrence of new global challenges, most recently the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the rising interest of emerging economies in strengthening their expenditure in R&I, which is challenging the role of the Union as a major global player in the field. Strengthening the cooperation with their international partners is therefore crucial for European countries to tackle those challenges together and have access to new knowledge.
Against this background, the webinar will outline the existing opportunities and schemes for networking and access to EU funds, in particular under the forthcoming Horizon Europe, for international cooperation between Professional Higher Education (PHE) institutions like WIT and potential strategic partners from Latin American countries.
Mr. Clarke was invited to participate due to his previous role in the highly successful H2020 EUBrasilCloudFORUM project with Brazilian partners, which offered a forum for community- and goal- driven dialogues, organizational support and channels for promoting new services and common solutions between the EU and Brazil and to ensure a structured dialogue on EU-Brazil policy and research and innovation for the future calls of H2020 and into Horizon Europe.
