Walton Institute PhD Student Presents on Sustainable AI at Saint Louis University, USA

Walton Institute at South East Technological University (SETU) PhD student Muhammad Zawish was recently invited by Professor Flavio Esposito, who is hosting him presently in the United States, to give a talk at the Computer Science Colloquium series at Saint Louis University, Missouri, USA. The audience comprised over 150 students pursuing PhD and Master degrees in Computer Science at Saint Louis University (SLU). 

The Department of Computer Science Colloquium series provides a platform for faculty members and guest speakers to share insights into current research and developments in the field. The event is designed to be an engaging experience with interaction between students at various academic levels.

Walton Institute PhD Student Zawish Muhammad presents to a room of 150 students at the Computer Science Colloquium series at Saint Louis University, Missouri, USA.

As part of his EU NGI Enrichers Transatlantic fellowship, Zawish discussed his ongoing research at SLU and his PhD research at SFI VistaMilk and Walton Institute at SETU. The focus of Zawish’s talk was on deep learning model compression and optimisation, specifically addressing energy efficiency issues in contemporary AI techniques. Zawish delved into the intricacies of his research, examined approaches to enhance the environment friendliness of AI techniques, and underscored the significance of transitioning to sustainable AI solutions.

Muhammad Zawish says: “I appreciate the opportunity to contribute to the Colloquium series and share my perspectives on the future of AI. It’s heartening to see the interest and enthusiasm of students in these discussions. I look forward to more such opportunities in the future.”
