TSSG hosts successful Networking session at ICT 2018 in Vienna, Austria

EU & India Clustering on IoT technologies for Smart Agriculture at ICT 2018.
ICT 2018 took place in Vienna on 4-6^th December 2018. This major research and innovation event attracted 4,800 visitors from all over the globe and focused on the European Union’s priorities in the digital transformation of society and industry. It presented an opportunity for the people involved in this transformation to share their experience and vision of Europe in the digital age.
ICT 2018 had four main components converging around the theme Imagine Digital – Connect Europe: Conference, Exhibition, Networking opportunities and Innovation and Start-ups forum; the WIT-coordinated EU-India FI-Media project, a project in the portfolio of the Delegation of the European Union to India and Bhutan, submitted a successful application for a networking session amongst fierce competition with a session on the topic of EU & India Clustering on IoT technologies for Smart Agriculture. 
This networking session was an appropriately befitting follow-up of a successful EU-India FI-MEDIA Smart Villages workshop, which was kindly co-organised and hosted by ABV-Indian Institute of Information Technology & Management, Gwalior, in November, 2018 (see http://www.bic-fimedia.eu/?view=news&news_id=60). At this event in Gwalior, the participants discussed the possibility of setting up a multi-stakeholder Centre of Cooperation on Smart Villages, including the clustering or research and innovation around Smart Agriculture topics between EU and India, and the networking session at ICT 2018 was used to recruit interested stakeholders to participate to the Centre of Cooperation.
Mr. James Clarke of WIT – TSSG, shown on right in the photo, who coordinates the EU-India FI-Media project, attended both of these events as organiser and speaker. According to Mr. Clarke, “There was definitely exhibited a strong desire by the EU and India participants of our ICT 2018 networking session to come together to work on an EU-India ‘Centre of Cooperation’ in relation to Smart Villages, including Smart Agriculture topics, which is a key strength of our research and innovation work in the TSSG group at WIT. This is precisely what the EU-India FI-MEDIA project is aiming to accomplish, to set up clustering of research and innovation activities around mutually beneficial topics between EU and India stakeholders”.
