Cancer can take a toll not only on the body but also on the mind, with many patients and survivors witnessing mental health challenges during and after treatment. Detecting depression in patients is not an easy task. This becomes even more so after hospital dismissal and hospital visits become less frequent over time. This is where FAITH steps in with a digital supportive solution for both patients and their health team.

In this final video of the FAITH project series, the team explore how an innovative AI-based algorithm has been developed to monitor mental health in cancer patients remotely. By analysing data collected through a smartphone app and wearable devices, FAITH tracks key indicators, such as activity levelssleep quality, and nutrition, among others. In addition, to ensure user engagement and trust, the team applied a user-centric design, focusing on patients’ and doctors’ needs for the functioning and interface of FAITH’s solution.

Over 200 participants contributed data in a year-long clinical trial, allowing the algorithm to detect signs of depression and declining mental health in real-time. With explainable AI techniques, the FAITH solution offers transparency, giving doctors valuable insights into a patient’s condition and enabling early intervention when needed.

Watch the video to discover how FAITH is revolutionising mental health support for cancer patients and survivors. Also, don’t miss out on the first and second videos!
