Walton Institute is proud to announce that PhD Researcher Rahul Mhapsekar was recently named as a finalist in the 2nd National Dairy Awards.
The National Dairy Awards celebrate the primary producers, the artisan producers, sector services and the dairy processors as an industry collective. From farmers and farm managers to innovators with a passion for animal health, biodiversity, or tech, the National Dairy Awards recognise dedication, hard work, and highlight the best of the Irish dairy sector.
Funded by the SFI research centre, VistaMilk, Rahul’s project ‘Milk Quality Analysis (MQA) in the dairy industry’ was nominated for the AgTech Ireland Best Dairy Research Programme/Project Award. This category acknowledges the best research project/programme based on improving an element of the Irish dairy industry within the parameters of environmental, social and/or economic sustainability.
His project showcases a groundbreaking approach to MQA in the dairy industry, integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Edge Processing. It represents a real-time, portable milk quality detection system that eliminates the need for pre-processing, preserving crucial spectral information.
“I am incredibly honoured to be nominated for this award,” said Rahul. “This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire team on the project. We are committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation and excellence in our projects, and this nomination serves as a motivating milestone in our journey.”
