Personal Summary

Prior to joining Walton Institute, John worked in a wide variety of sectors including computer gaming (Cinemaware), high availability web applications (Sega’s Heat.NET, community site for Macromedia Shockwave), financial (Des Cullen Software), and logistics (Twoway/Richer Sounds), spending 10 years of this consulting. He also spent a period as a research assistant in the Distributed Systems Group in TCD working on a number of pioneering European funded distributed computing projects (Moonlight, Tigger).

Since joining Walton Institute in 2009 John has worked on a number of projects including the FP7 funded Efipsans (autonomic networking), EI-CF ASTRAL (energy monitoring and saving), and EI-CF QoSPlan (bandwidth requirement planning). Most recently he has been Technical Manager on H2020 project Aquasmart, and won funding and delivered EI CF funded follow-on Smarter Aquaculture. He has also worked on the Interreg project pISCES – delivering the architecture and machine learning components, and has most recently started work on the Interreg project RegEnergy.
