Guoqing Lu is currently pursuing his PhD in the Department of Computing and Mathematics at the Emerging Networks Lab Research Unit in Walton Institute. He is working as a part of the Science Foundation Ireland funded VistaMilk Research Centre.
He aims to develop technologies underlying new wireless communication networking models and applications for 5G/6G for agri- tech. As part of his PhD research, he is focusing on ambient energy harvesting for wireless IoT devices, where the IoT devices are able to sense the electromagnetic waves in the air and convert this into energy.
He received the certification of completion of the program in Electrical Engineering and Automation from Central Michigan University, the USA, in 2018.
He has been involved in over ten research projects, including the wireless communication system of Ireland’s first satellite – EIRSAT-1, the Chinese National Natural Science Foundation funded project – the wind/solar complementary energy harvesting system and the wireless power transmission system for intelligent vehicles.
He has filed more than twenty patent applications and got more than 70 awards.
