I am an experienced researcher, currently employed as a postdoctoral researcher at the Walton Institute for Information and Communication Systems Science, South East Technological University. My research interests include quantum via satellite communication, continuous-variable quantum key distribution (CV-QKD), unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), optical wireless communications (visible light communication and free space optics) and their applications, D2D communication, and 5G/6G networks. At present, I am working on modelling feasibility of satellite QKD and performance analysis of CV-QKD for inter-satellite communication and multi-hop UAV relays for next-generation networks. Previously, I worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Center of Communication Systems and Sensing, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia, where I conducted research on channel modeling and associated analysis of a Hybrid RF/FSO multi-UAV communication network for next-generation flexible and heterogeneous infrastructures, in addition to intelligent VLC systems for indoor environments. I also have two years of experience as a postdoctoral researcher at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia, where I conducted research on improving VLC systems in indoor environments and integrating VLC with D2D communication.
I worked as as a teaching assistant (from September 2010 to February 2015), and lecturer (from June 2015 to March 2017) at the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering, International University of Africa (IUA), and lecturer (from July 2015 to March 2017) at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Bahri. I worked as a research assistant (from March 2017 to March 2021) at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). I have more than three years of experience in the industrial field (Sudan Meteorological Authority) with a background in installation, configuration, and maintenance of automatic weather stations (AWS) and servers dealing with different types of sensors. My years of teaching experience have provided me with the potential for teaching and mentoring different kinds of students at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Besides teaching, I also held the position of head of the Electronic and Electrical Engineering Department and was a member of several academic and administrative committees.
In 2021, I received my Ph.D. from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, for my work on a new optimization uniformity for indoor visible light communication systems using optical attocells configuration. The results have been published in three ISI journals and three Scopus-indexed journals and proceedings. Also, I won two gold and two silver medals in international and national research of innovation and exposition, in addition to registering two copyrights. I also received my M.Sc. degree in Electronics Engineering (Telecommunication Engineering) in June 2015 from the Sudan University Science and Technology (SUST), Sudan, and obtained my B.Sc. Degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering (Communication Engineering) in September 2010 from International University of Africa (IUA), Sudan.
I am familiar with a range of operating systems (any Linux-based), programming languages (C, C++), frameworks (Vaisala AWS), and other environments (MATLAB and LaTeX). I have participated in many national and international courses, workshops, and training sessions. My research work includes publications, critical literature reviews, system theoretical design and modeling, as well as manuscript drafting, proofing, and dissemination. My experience extends to mobile wireless communication systems, industrial tours, and other related fields.
During my academic journey, I have participated in several international conferences and published papers in top journals, and have established a collaboration network with several well-known institutions.
