Personal Summary

Dr Deirdre Kilbane is the Director of Research in Walton Institute for Information and Communication Systems Science, South East Technological University (SETU). Deirdre is responsible for the strategic direction of Walton Institute’s basic research activities. She plays a key role in driving Walton Institute’s research divisions which support the development of innovative technologies across AgriTech, HealthTech, Smart Cities, Energy, and ICT. Dr Kilbane has a BSc in Experimental Physics and a PhD in Mathematical Physics. Her research interests include nano- and biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and quantum physics. She is also a member of multiple Science Foundation Ireland Research Centres that align with the research interests of Walton and SETU.
